Call for Submissions - The Frenchtown Seaman

Seaman, a Newfoundland dog, was a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the first trip from the Mississippi River to the Pacific coast and back. He was the only animal to complete the entire three-year trip. The Historic Frenchtown Association (HFA) has acquired a statue of the iconic Newfoundland dog. We will be hosting a naming competition in the spring of 2024 and will fund the repainting and permanent installation on N. 2nd St. of the Statue. Seaman in his current state can be viewed at 1200 N. 2nd St.

HFA would like to invite local artists to submit a unique plan to paint Seaman into the Frenchtown community fabric for generations to come. Please send the following to president@historicfrenchtown.org by March 10, 2024.
